Instructor: Dr Chris Pearson Master 6th Dan Black Belt

Dr Chris Pearson holds a 6th Dan Master Grade in WT Taekwondo and began his training more than 30 years ago. He obtained his Black Belt in 1992.
Chris has been involved in the teaching of Taekwondo for more than 25 years in many many countries, including teaching in Korean Taekwondo schools. In 2005, Chris graduated from the prestigious World Taekwondo Academy Instructors Course, a week long course for international instructors from all over the world held at the World Headquarters for Taekwondo, the Kukkiwon in South Korea. Besides teaching Taekwondo in the UK, Chris also ran a branch of Phoenix Taekwondo in Tokyo, Japan for more than 7 years (teaching in Japanese!).
Chris has also worked with London Greenwich Council as an instructor for women’s self defence classes for 3 years.

The instructors at Phoenix Tae Kwon Do stress the importance of a good balance between sporting and academic activity amongst their younger students. Chris himself holds a 1st Class Hons Degree in Astrophysics and a Doctorate in Cosmology from Imperial College, London. For a living Chris is an Space Scientist and is currently working with the European and Canadian Space Agencies on Space Telescopes. Previously he worked for the Japanese Space Agency on Japanese rockets in Japan for 7 years. He also runs a networks of science workshops and shows for schools all over the UK.
Chris is also a parent and therefore understands the importance and value of what Taekwondo has to offer our younger generations.
Aside from Taekwondo, Chris has experience in other forms of Martial Arts including Aikido, Kung Fu, Wing Chung, Karate and Kali.
